Insurance fraud

If you suspect insurance fraud, there are several ways to report it. First, if you know the insurance company being cheated, you can contact the insurance company directly. Some even have hotlines dedicated solely to reporting insurance fraud. Below is a list of some of those hotlines. You can call the general number for an insurance company and inform them that you wish to report insurance fraud, and they will direct your call.

In addition, you can report the fraud to the National Insurance Crime Bureau at 1-800-835-6422. (Note: The NICB is operated by the insurance industry. It investigates insurance fraud, including auto insurance, liability insurance, workers compensation and homeowners insurance.)

In addition, you can contact the state Attorney General, who is responsible for crimes committed within a state.
